holes and slot cutting - Solved: Cutting a circular slot - Best Method - Autodesk Community tt888 slot

Just starting a new project and questioning the best approach.  The orange disk below will be made from a square piece of MIC-6, .25 inches thick.  My plan is to temporarily clamp it in place, drill the inner holes that are for M6 screws and registration pins.  Remove the clamps, tighten down the screws and mill the disk.   Since the stock will be square to start with, I planned on cutting a slot around the perimeter of the disk to remove excess material.   What is the best way to cut this slot.   My first thought was to use a 3/16 end mill and use a 2d contour and ramp down as the tool moves around the circumference.  The second approach is to use a 2D adaptive similar to the top of the vise jaws shown below.   I have read that the 2D adaptive is more efficient, but it seems like it requires removing lot more material and may be better suited if I were cutting a wider slot.   Please let me know what you think is the best way to do this.   Richard
